Frequency-Shift Zero-Forcing Time-Varying Equalization for Doubly Selective SIMO Channels

چکیده
This paper deals with the problem of designing linear time-varying (LTV) finite-impulse response zero-forcing (ZF) equalizers for timeand frequency-selective (so-called doubly selective) single-input multiple-output (SIMO) channels. Specifically, relying on a basis expansion model (BEM) of the rapidly time-varying channel impulse response, we derive the canonical frequency-domain representation of the minimal norm LTV-ZF equalizer, which allows one to implement it as a parallel bank of linear time-invariant filters having, as input signals, different frequency-shift (FRESH) versions of the received data. Moreover, on the basis of this FRESH representation, we propose a simple and effective low-complexity version of the minimal norm LTV-ZF equalizer and we discuss the relationships between the devised FRESH equalizers and a LTV-ZF equalizer recently proposed in the literature. The performance analysis, carried out by means of computer simulations, shows that the proposed FRESH-LTV-ZF equalizers significantly outperform their competitive alternative.

Time-varying FIR equalization of doubly-selective channels
In this paper we propose a zero forcing (ZF) timevarying (TV) finite impulse response (FIR) equalizer for doublyselective (timeand frequency-selective) channels. We use the basis expansion model (BEM) to approximate the doubly-selective channel and to design the TV FIR equalizer. This allows us to turn a large TV problem into an equivalent small time-invariant (TIV) problem, containing only the...
متن کاملSingle-Carrier Frequency-Domain Equalization for Orthogonal STBC over Frequency-Selective MIMO-PLC channels
In this paper we propose a new space diversity scheme for broadband PLC systems using orthogonal space-time block coding (OSTBC) transmission combined with single-carrier frequency-domain equalization (SC-FDE). To apply this diversity technique to PLC channels, we first propose a new technique for combining SC-FDE with OSTBCs applicable to all dispersive multipath channels impaired by impulsive...

This structure allows us to turn a large design problem into an equivalent small design problem, containing only the BEM coefficient...
متن کاملLow-complexity receiver for OFDM in doubly-selective channels
Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems may experience significant inter-carrier interference (ICI) when used in timeand frequency-selective, or doubly-selective, channels. In such cases, the classical symbol estimation schemes, e.g., minimum mean-squared error (MMSE) and zero-forcing (ZF) estimation, require matrix inversion that is prohibitively complex for large symbol leng...
متن کاملBandwidth Efficient Pilot Assisted Transmission over Doubly-Selective Wireless Fading Channels Using Superimposed Training
We propose to estimate time-varying frequency-selective channels using data-dependent superimposed training (DDST) and a basis expansion model (BEM). The superimposed training consists of the sum of a known sequence and a data-dependent sequence, which is unknown to the receiver. The data-dependent sequence cancels the effects of the unknown data on channel estimation. Symbol detection is perfo...
